Living as disciples of Jesus Christ

Welcome to First United Methodist Church!

Reaching out to the community to provide a place for spiritual growth through a caring, inviting environment.

Welcome to Waterloo First! We stand prepared to share with you in your spiritual journey. With a strong foundation within the Christian tradition and the community of Waterloo, we seek to create growth and learning fully involved in the present and future.

We invite you to explore the offerings listed here and contact us with any questions. For a full sense of desire to share with you in your journey of discovery, come in person. We look forward to participating in your spiritual journey through dialogue, presence and worship.

We have a rich history in the Cedar Valley community, having been the first church formed by the founders of the city of Waterloo. We have many programs within the church focusing on Outreach to the community, Education within our church, and we encourage you to get involved as much as you can. Our annual Faith Explorations weekend brings to the Cedar Valley nationally-known lecturers such as John Dominic Crossan, Marcus Borg, Barbara Rossing, and Dr. Amy-Jill Levine. This Fall and early 2010 there will be a Faith Explorations continuing lecture series on Sunday evenings.
